Well I gave up hunting, and I never liked fishing, golf never was my sport
Thought I was good playing basketball, they kicked me off the court
I like to play that flat top guitar, maybe Nashville’s where I belong
Bet I could make me, tens of dollars, singing them bluegrass songs
chorus
I’m watching my latest song, as up the chart it climbs
Checking my mailbox every day, for some shiny nickels and dimes
Gonna buy me a hat and a coat with fringe, and a big, long fancy car
I’ll drive it up to the Opry as a biggo bluegrass star
I don’t know, how to work a hammer, sledge, ball peen, or claw
Nearly lost two fingers one day, on a rusty old table saw
You put a paintbrush in my hand? Well that’s not a very good plan
I’ll have to use my voice, and these two hands, to be a music making man
