Kirk Lewis Green
Songwriter, Singer, Musician
A lifelong Texan, Kirk loves bringing joy to people through compelling story songs, which in bluegrass of course, ranges from happy to sad to scary, but always fun! Kirk has always been an observant person, as a lifelong fine artist and media producer. He likes to see the big picture and then explore what’s going on in that picture. This transfers over into his songwriting, where he tries to look closely at what the characters in his songs are going through and transform their story into an engaging, poetic experience for the music listener.
Kirk was introduced to bluegrass by a roommate at the University of Texas at Austin in 1982. Hot Rize was his favorite band back then and still is to this day. He waited until age 40 to start picking and singing. He attended Pete Wernick’s Jam Camp in 2007 and caught the fever for picking and songwriting. Kirk now leads the regional bluegrass band Green Lincoln in the Dallas, Texas area and is a past president of the Southwest Bluegrass Club. His most rewarding music involvement now is his volunteering as a Bedside Musician with Musicians On Call.
